Dog Haus, a Pasadena-based gourmet hot dog franchise, is testing a new self-serve craft beer system at its new location in Santa Ana. With iPourIt, patrons at the MainPlace restaurant can pour themselves the following brews: Cismontane Brewing Co.'s Citizen Lager, Avery Brewing Co.'s Ellie's Brown Ale, Bootlegger Brewery's Old World Hefeweizen and the Session IPA from Taps Fish House & Brewery. Prices vary from 40 cents to 46 cents per ounce. Most full-pint pours range in price from $6.40 to almost $7.50 a pint.

However, the beauty of the system is its flexibility, Dog Haus says. You can spend your pre-loaded buying card sampling various beers.

“It's a fun system,” said Robin Smith, a Dog Haus manager in Santa Ana. “You can pour yourself a little flight if you want and pay only a few dollars. The thing I like about it is I can just pour half a glass if I feel like it.”

Lake Forest-based iPourIt Inc. has 44 bars and restaurants in 21 states that employ its self-serve beer-dispensing system, which measures beer pours as small as one-tenth of an ounce. The Santa Ana beer system is in test mode, with a full rollout expected soon.

Dog Haus' second O.C. outlet, scheduled to open in July in Fullerton, will have an iPourIt system.

Dog Haus bills itself as “a craft casual hot dog concept.” It was founded by partners Hagop Giragossian, Quasim Riaz and André Vener. The first Dog Haus opened in Pasadena in 2010, offering all-beef skinless Haus Dogs, Haus Sausages and black angus beef burgers on grilled King's Hawaiian Rolls.
